Designed by Original design team; under a Gil Hanse-led transformation

The Links at Spanish Bay® is currently closed for a comprehensive renovation led by architect Gil Hanse, Jim Wagner, and Hanse Golf Course Design. Construction began March 18, 2026, and Pebble Beach Company has confirmed a reopening date of April 17, 2027, a few months ahead of the U.S. Open's return to Pebble Beach Golf Links®.

The transformation is intended to elevate the roughly 40-year-old course — historically a true links-style layout with firm, fast turf and coastal dunes character — to match the pedigree of the resort's other championship courses, while updating aging infrastructure including drainage and irrigation.

The course is not currently bookable and does not appear in trip planning until it reopens. Check back after April 17, 2027, or contact us for the latest status.

Worth knowing

Each evening at dusk, a bagpiper walks the 18th hole as the sun sets over the Pacific — dine at The Inn at Spanish Bay, sit by the fire pits on the terrace, and watch the day end with the pipes playing. One of the most memorable non-golf moments on the peninsula.
